Big Brown was the favorite to win to today’s 140th running Belmont Stakes, lost in a Heartbreaking Upset was defeated by Da’Tara.

The undefeated Big Brown, who never ran better than third in today’s Belmont Stakes, made history by becoming the first Triple Crown hopeful to finish dead last in the Belmont Stakes. In fact, the colt sadly never crossed the finish line.
“It was hot as hell out there,” said Big Brown’s jockey Kent Desormeaux. He went on to say, “He was empty. He didn’t have anything left,” “I had no horse. He’s the best horse I’ve ever been on so I took care of him.”

Da’ Tara shocked the racing world in a major upset today was the winner of the 2008 Belmont Stakes. The Favorite, Big Brown failed to deliver on Triple Crown expectations.
Da’Tara was one the longshots on the board for the Belmont Stakes but it wouldn’t be the first time a Nick Zito trained horse. Da’ Tara, starting from position 6, had little trouble winning the race and was one of the distant contenders with odds 30/1 before the race at the online bookmaker.
Da’Tara, winner of the Breeder’s Cup race last year, took the lead from the start of the race and held it all the way to the end, sitting atop of the Belmont Stakes results board
